The Jonah Project

I love the story of Jonah. In the summer of 2013, while backpacking with my family in the backcountry of Yosemite National Park, our son Thomas asked me about my progress in memorizing the Book of Jonah, a mere 48 verses. He challenged me to get it completely memorized within a year. So, I committed myself to begin what I call “The Jonah Project.” That year, beginning on the first Monday of Advent, in early December 2013, I took time every week, for 52 weeks, meditatively reading the Book of Jonah, one verse a week, reflected upon Jonah’s journey in writing. The Jonah Project explores the ancient world of Jonah, across 52 weeks, a verse a week, journeying with the prophet Jonah into the compassionate, fruitful heart of God.
